HOLY WEEK/EASTER WORSHIP CALENDAR Everything below is subject to change under our current situation with COVID 19. Please...regardless of when we gather again for worship, do give to HANDS. They have come to depend on our special offering at Easter.
April 9 - Maundy Thursday 7:00 p.m. - Jacobs' Hall, then Sanctuary - Order of the Table, followed by Tenebrae (The word Maundy means commandment. Jesus' commandment to "love one another even as I have loved you" is the focus of this evening. We learn to offer this love through The Way of Jesus. At Jesus' invitation, we join for Order of the Table in Jacobs Hall to remember him and to recommit to The Way. Tenebrae is the Latin term for shadows. This service, taking place in our sanctuary immediately following our Order of the Table, consists of readings of scripture followed by the gradual extinguishing of candles. Historically, it is associated with the evenings of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of Holy Week. The readings on these evenings commemorated the events of the following day, including the Last Supper, the betrayal, arrest, trial, suffering, death, burial and the destitution of the disciples. In the service presented here, these events are combined in one ceremony.)
April 12 - Easter Sunrise Service 6:00 a.m. - Sunrise Service led by our Youth Fellowship at Nichols College (Lookout on Budleigh Hill above the Athletic Center, outside by the auditorium Should it be raining, this will be held in our sanctuary.)

Please consider giving to our annual Easter collection for HANDS (Helping Address the Needs of Dudley's Seniors / Heating Assistance) Please support the work of HANDS. Many local seniors routinely make decisions between paying for heat, medications, and food. I'm grateful to Sarah White for founding this important non-profit organization which is greatly in need of our support at this time. Please give a special gift, upholding life this Easter. Our Board of Missions and I ask for your support. Simply put your offering in an envelope (special envelopes will be available in church on Palm Sunday & Easter, but white envelopes before these days also work). If inserting cash, please leave a note for the collector so she may acknowledge your gift. If writing a check, please pay to the order of The First Congregational Church of Dudley. In the Memo, please write "HANDS" You may either mail the envelope to the church at 135 Center Road, Dudley, MA 01571 or place your envelope in the offering plate at church any Sunday during Lent or on Easter morning. Thanks so much and Easter Blessings, Pastor John and our Board of Missions
